“A campaign designed to drop sales”

According to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), human trafficking has led to the disappearance of up to four million people each year, resulting in them having to endure slavery and prostitution.

TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris developed a campaign for the IOM’s regional partner in South Africa, the Southern African Counter-Trafficking Assistance Programme (SACTAP), to highlight human trafficking to those most vulnerable to it. Their alternative brand contacts resulted in people literally disappearing — for a few moments at least. Check out how they achieved this on the campaign’s Flickr page.

It’s hard to tell whether or not the campaign will make a difference in reducing the scourge of human trafficking. What is heartening, though, is the evidence of fresh and innovative thinking behind the campaign.
